Top Ten for July 4th 2012

Summer is just flying by, as it always does. For those of you looking ahead to the big July 4th Weekend and wondering what there is to do in Coastal Delaware, here is our Top Ten. Enjoy and let us know what you did and what we missed for future articles! With July 4th on a Wednesday this year, many of you will have a 10 day July 4th weekend this year, so here are more favorites to add to your calendar:

 

  1. Rehoboth Beach – Fireworks on the beach followed by local favorites the Funsters in the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand!
  2. Old Fashioned 4th of July games on Second Street in Lewes, followed by the Decorated Boat Parade and the infamous Doo Dah Parade around 5ish!
  3. Bethany Beach offers a full day of family celebrations on July 4th capped off with Fireworks of course
  4. Laurel, Delaware, has a Weekend Carnival with fun for the whole family. Don’t miss the car show!
  5. Concert in the Park in Milton, Delaware, featuring Tydewater. Bring a picnic and relax in the Milton Memorial Park.
  6. Crabbing 101 at the Delaware Seashore State Park from 10 am – 12pm. If you catch too many crabs, just give me a call!
  7. St. Peter’s Sidewalk Art & Artisan Show on July 7th, 9 am – 4 pm in downtown Lewes.
  8. Shakespeare in the Garden at the Rehoboth Art League at 4 pm and 6 pm, July 7th.
  9. The Delaware Symphony Orchestra at the Freeman Stage at Bayside on July 7th at 8 pm. Of course, the night before you can see Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes!
  10. Those are the more official July 4th week celebrations and events. You’ll find Bill and me on the beach in Lewes for the unofficial fireworks at dusk. Shhh! Don’t tell but it’s the local Lewes way to end the day.
