Active Adults Realty’s 2016 Boomer Build in Delmar, Delaware.
This volunteer project for the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity was held on Wednesday, September 21.
The Active Adults Realty Crew assembled at 8:45am to help build a four bedroom home in western Sussex County. We left our mark for the Habitat Family in painting, siding and assisting with the projects set up by the Construction Supervisor and Americorps peeps. Neither rain, humidity nor mud kept our Crew from the goal this day.
Our group of Boomers banged out some interior painting and exterior siding on the jobsite in Delmar. Many thanks to Pete Green at Atlantic Bay Mortgage for supplying our lunch served up by our marketing manager. Our Crew finished up the afternoon at 3pm.
Watch the fun and hard work performed by our Crew. (Click on the video below.)
Barbara Ward, Volunteer Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Sussex County had some fine words for our Boomer Crew, “Once again our friends at Active Adults Realty put their commitment to community building to work for Sussex County Habitat. During their 2016 Boomer Build, the AAR Crew of agents and clients vinyl-sided the exterior and painted the interior of a new Delmar home. Not allowing their enthusiasm to be dampened by rain — or some pretty muddy conditions — the Active Adults builders did an outstanding job of moving the Barnes-Lopez family home towards completion. We are gratified by AAR’s continuing support of the Habitat mission and ministry.”
We would like to stress that the most important requirement for a Habitat for Humanity volunteer is a desire to serve. Whether framing a house, putting up walls, or doing finish and painting work, Habitat’s construction crew and site leaders provided all the training and guidance needed for a successful build project. Our participation helped boost Sussex Habitat’s capacity to build more houses and serve more families! we hope we helped make a huge difference in the life of this Sussex County Habitat Partner Family.
