Selling this Winter? Take Listing Photos Now!

Using photos taken during the colorful summer months for a winter home listing makes your home standout compared to other listings showing less colorful outdoor settings.

Listing your home in the winter? Take your listing photos in the summer.

Last month in our newsletter, we shared ideas on how to create an outdoor oasis for dining and hanging out with family. Now that we’re still spending most of our time at home, what else can you accomplish during this crazy time?

If you’re planning to list your home for sale this winter, have your exterior photos and aerial shots taken now. Right now, your perennials are at their most vibrant. Your trees and shrubs are full and green and so is your lawn. Nothing is worse than getting a call to list a home in the dead of winter and finding brown grass and bare branches. My first question is always, “Do you have any photos taken this past summer or spring?”

Staging starts from the curb

Remember, your first impression is often online and the featured photo is typically an exterior shot of your home. How is it going to look? Prepare now. Take advantage of all this time at home and spend some of it prepping your landscaping and the exterior of your home for a photoshoot. Start at the curb and take a critical look at your home. Does the driveway or sidewalk need repair? How about the walkway to your front door? Stagers advise planting along the path leading to your entrance.

I find so many great ideas on Pinterest, how about you? Send me your source of inspiration or add it to the comments below.

Not everyone has a green thumb, but I bet you have a neighbor that would love to offer advice! If you’re in Delaware, we can often recommend local landscapers and other firms that can help you with repairs or general maintenance necessary to help your home look its best.
